It looks like real ‘hackers’ might have won out in the search for Overwatch’s suspected upcoming hero, Sombra. Details are still a bit sketchy, but a Russian Overwatch group seem to be the source of the leak.
A blurry-cam image was posted to Reddit on Saturday from what appears to be an internal Blizzard news update, and shows both the new hero and some exciting details of the upcoming Halloween Terror event.
So, what have we learned from the image?
Overwatch Halloween Terror
From the loot boxes leaked last week by the xbox store, we know that the Halloween even will be called ‘Overwatch Halloween Terror’, and reward players with cosmetic loot and voice lines. With the latest leak we also now know more about the brawl we might see.
Protect the castle doors from the Zomnics and Dr. Junkensteins evil allies, try your hand at three different difficultied – the harder the difficulty, the more points you can earn!
Extrapolating this, it sounds like we’re going have to stop a hoard of Zomnics from breaking down the doors of a castle, which I’m assuming will be on Eichenwalde. This also ties in nicely with the leaked comic from last Friday.
Sombra hacks her way onto the build…
Wow, I believe that this is most likely an dev team news update targeted at the dev team. So this means that ‘the build’ referred to would probably be an internal playtest environment.
That’s said, it looks like this might be the very first image we’ve seen of Sombra as well as a great (albeit slightly cut-off) introduction to accompany it.

During that time, she upgraded herself with augmentations and was recruited by the mysterious Talon organization. While Sombra seems content to work with[…]
I’m hyped for the announcement of a new hero, but I don’t think that we’ll see Sombra launch with the Halloween update – and we’re better off waiting for either the counter on amomentincrime.com to reach 100% (apprx. Oct 16) or for a massive reveal at Blizzcon (November 4-5).
